Ladder Safety Can Now Be in the Palm of Your Hand

With more than 500,000 ladder-related falls, 300 deaths, and $24 billion in ladder-injury expenses, NIOSH has developed an app with the goal to lower these numbers and increase ladder safety. Companies are encouraged to continue supporting National Ladder Safety Month by learning about the NIOSH’s award-winning Ladder Safety App. The app is a revolutionary tool that is designed to improve extension and step ladder safety for anyone working in construction or any other task that requires the use of a ladder. In the app, it has its own angle measuring tool that uses visual, sound, and vibration cues to set an extension ladder at the proper angle. Additionally, there are various ladder safety features that help you plan out the job you are trying to accomplish, determine the correct ladder to use along with any additional safety accessories, create an inspection checklist, and it provides access to proper-use and set-up instruction manuals. This resource is NIOSH’s first mobile application that can be downloaded for free in the Apple Store or through Google Play, and it is available in both English and Spanish.
