May is National Electrical Safety Month. This month different companies and organizations are encouraged to boost awareness and bring attention to why electrical preventive maintenance is so important. This is partly due to the country’s overburdened and electrical infrastructure in buildings that are aging and may not be designed to handle the load most businesses require as they expand and utilize new and more equipment. Inadequately maintained electrical systems are also a leading cause of many costly business-related problems, such as business interruptions, bad energy efficiency, and expensive equipment breakdowns.
Statistics from the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers have found that incorporating an effective electrical preventative maintenance program can greatly reduce a company’s risk of unscheduled outage by as much as 66%.
